oddjobs.im was created to fix a very real problem on the Isle of Man - the old, unreliable way of finding and hiring tradespeople.
Constant delays, broken promises, poor communication, and frustration had become the norm. Good tradies were getting buried, and customers were getting let down.
So we decided to build a better system.
oddjobs.im is a modern platform that connects customers with verified local tradespeople - not just “another quote form”, but the full local workflow: interest when scope is fuzzy, site visits when someone needs to look, and multiple estimates when you’re ready to compare prices and award one winner.
For trades we built the tools busy people actually use: a working diary (including classic print-week for the van), My week ahead digests, Communications prefs so email and push aren’t spam, multi-skilled profiles, location-filtered job alerts, Pro/Elite letterheaded estimates, free trial then PayPal plans, optional campaigns & coupons, and referrals by tier. Customers always create accounts and post free. We take no commission on the job.
We also run a proper product stack behind the scenes: multi-language public pages with flag switching, admin page builder + SEO, site branding per market (so the same code can power different regions), OJ Bot - a free dashboard helper with a published FAQ “brain”, role-aware smart answers, and the ability to open the right screen (not a bolted-on marketing chatbot) - and billing insights that track trials, conversions and promos. In short - we ship like a serious tech company, for a very local problem.
